The Central Government of Vantalux is the most important and powerful organization in the world of Ordus. They are the ones who control all the cities of the continent, who supervise, in one way or another, all the people and jobs, who make sure that society runs at maximum efficiency by the means deemed necessary to do so.
In this thread you'll find important information about this Government. How it began, its hierarchy and positions, its major characters. It will, hopefully, shed an important light on the overall structure of the Central Government of Vantalux.
And, who knows - perhaps you'll encounter some of these characters in the future.
The capital city of Vantalux was formed from the ancient minor settlement of Vanta, name that derived from the only resource that was exclusive to that poor community: a metal that for centuries had been useless but, after Dawnbreak, became the single most valuable thing in the entire world. It would be after this miraculous event that, slowly but surely, the people of this settlement would start doing experiments, experiments that would allow them to understand and unlock the new potential of the mentioned metal.
After receiving news of the first major breakthrough in the experiments with Vanta and realizing what that could mean for their future, the two main figures of the settlement had a private meeting. Their names were Joanne, the leader, and Artorius, her right-hand man. It was there and then that they decided to bet on themselves and their people. It was their chance for immortality, their chance to build the greatest power ever known in Ordus. It was a chance they grabbed without second thought. It was there and then, in the year of 4 Post Dawnbreak (PDB), that the name Vantalux was pronounced for the first time.
The history of the world's greatest and only metropolis was about to begin.
A few years of slow development, work and consolidation passed and it was now 11 PDB. With the city growing at a steady pace with each passing season, new discoveries on Vanta being made constantly and with defensive purposes in mind, Joanne and Arthur decided to move themselves and their five most trusted counselors to the highest point of the capital. They named the area Royal Peak and began construction there in order to make it the home of what they would from then on proclaim to be the Central Government of Vantalux.
To this day, the designation of Royal Peak remains, as does the title of the ones ruling from it; as does the name Vantalux.
It was from this point on that the core of the Government model we know this day and age was properly established. Joanne became the very first 'Vertikim', Arthur became the very first 'Yuhs' and their counselors composed the very first 'Council of Five'. The first generation of the Central Government of Vantalux had, thus, been officially formed. They all made the crucial decisions that would lead to the great city we know in the present year of 450 PDB.
And so the Central Government of Vantalux continues to look below them, watching as their intentions become reality.
The 3 Core Roles in the Structure of the Central Government of Vantalux
There are three titles that might have awakened your curiosity: Vertikim, Yuhs and Council of Five. These are the three most important roles in the structure of the Central Government of Vantalux. They are the ones in charge, the ones that dictate the policies and directions of Ordus, the ones where the utmost power and authority reside. As you might have already noticed, they are also the roles that have existed since the very beginnings of the Government and of Vantalux - having been founded by Joanne, Artorius and their five followers, the positions have remained untouched, becoming the foundation for entire generations of Governments that would follow them.
Vertikim
The heart of the Central Government of Vantalux, it is he or she that makes the blood flow through the veins of the capital and its peripheral cities. The Vertikim is, therefore, the highest, most dominant and crucial position in the structure of the Government; the figure of the most absolute supremacy to which everything is centered upon. The Yuhs acts according to his commands and the Council of Five governs according to his instructions. Historically, it is rare for the Vertikim to be seen by either the citizens or any Government members other than the two other core roles, with the Royal Peak being the eternal residence from which he lives in almost hiding, always plotting and scheming a future that no one else is able to see.

Yuhs
The flesh of the Central Government of Vantalux, it is he or she that protects the heart from eyes filled with greed or envy and from hands that wish harm or revolution. The Yuhs is, therefore, the second highest position one can achieve in the structure of the Government, the one that the Vertikim trusts the most - just like, centuries ago, Joanne trusted Artorius. He is, historically, much more publicly recognized than the Vertikim, for it is the Yuhs’ job to preserve the safety and aura of the heart and the blood which it makes flow, such being done via appearances, directly dealing with members of the Government, going on necessary trips to the peripheral cities and much, much more. Always busy, on the move and acting the will of his superior out, the Yuhs thus acts as a second in charge, making his word final and only possibly overturned by the Vertikim himself.

Council of Five
The brain of the Central Government of Vantalux, they are alive because the heart allows it and the flesh protects them, yet their support and capacity are fundamental to keep the heart beating smoothly and the flesh unscathed. The Council of Five is, therefore, the third and final core role in the body that is the Government. It is the Council of Five that takes care of all the more tedious but necessary daily work needed to make the capital and its peripheral cities functioning at top rate, deciding on the more trivial but nonetheless fundamental aspects of the every-day society. It is also the Council that directly takes care of the administrative control of the capital and its assets. They are wise, capable and shrouded in mysteries and secrets, their power and decision only being nullified if either the Yuhs or the Vertikim so decide.

The Other Roles in the Structure of the Central Government of Vantalux
Besides the Three Core Roles, there are, obviously, other key roles that allow the Central Government of Vantalux to retain its grasp over the continent. These different roles began to appear individually as the Government grew over the centuries and the necessity for them arrived, but most of them evolved and gained a more special relevance after the expansion that led to the construction of the peripheral cities. For a general overview, they are the Generals, the Colonels, the Captains, the Commanderas, the Administratives and the Pawns.
Generals
It would be fair to say that, outside of the the three core roles of the Central Government, the role of General is the most important and powerful one that a person can reach within the structure. The purpose of Generals is a simple one - they are the ones with administrative control over the peripheral cities, acting from what are refered to as Administrative Outposts. This means that there are only three Generals: one stationed in The Wharf, one stationed in Haven and one stationed in Fumehat. This makes it so that the Generals words and decisions are the law in the city of their jurisdiction, with them only having to respond to the Council of Five, the Yuhs and the Vertikim.

Colonels
Within the structure of the Central Government of Vantalux, Colonels can only be found within the Government Sponsored Jobs. Therefore, just like Generals, there are only three Colonels, each being the leader of their respective Lawful Job: one for Enforcers, one for Hunters and one for Vagrants. This means that the Colonels are the ones responsible for the Job that they head, possessing the final word to the matters related to it and its members, having only to respond to the Generals, the Council of Five, the Yuhs and the Vertikim in occasional, exceptional cases when such is necessary or requested by either party. Due to the long, rooted history of each job and their more independent nature, each Colonel is usually treated by a specific title when talking to other members of their Job: while they are refered as 'Colonels' by the Central Government and its members, they are refered as something else by their fellow Enforcers, Hunters or Vagrants. It is also important to note that, within the Sponsored Jobs and for the same reasons mentioned before, the Colonels are the only ones to get a title recognized by the Central Government of Vantalux, with anyone below them being ranked only by their Star Rank and not by specific titles.

Captains and Commanders
The Captains and Commanders are the roles with direct authority over the proper, regular military and police forces of the Central Government - the Vantalux Armed Forces. The existence of these forces and of the mentioned roles that lead them are justified by their purpose as a means of belic power and overall defense of the sovereignty of the Government, meaning that their presence and intervention can mostly be felt in areas like the Royal Peak, the Mines and Power Factories of Vantalux's Heavy Industrial District and the Administrative Outposts, etc.... Captains and Commanders also take different responsibilities depending on their proven value and experience, allowing their work to differ greatly even when compared with another person with the same title: for example, while one Captain or Commander can simply be used to train Pawns, another one can be responsible for an entire field or section of the Central Government. This status makes it so that the loyalities of the Captains and Commanders lie only to the Vertikim, Yuhs, Council of Five and Generals, not having to comply to the commands of the Colonels or any other member of the Government Sponsored Jobs. There are many Captains and Commander within the ranks of the Central Government, but only a select few stand out - whether due to their strenght, accomplishments or intelligence.

Administratives and Pawns
The Administratives and Pawns are, without question, at the bottom of the hierarchy of the structure of the Central Government of Vantalux but they are, nevertheless, extremely important. The Administratives are exactly what the name implies: educated civilians who work for the Government - whether directly in the Royal Peak or in the Administrative Outposts - and take care of the more bureaucratic, office-related work needed to make the system of society function properly. The Pawns are, in turn, the lowest of the regular armed forces: normal civilians who, from the age of 18, enrolled and trained to serve the Government and defend its cities the Vantalux Armed Forces. While Administratives are more closely controlled by the Generals and Pawns more closely controlled by the Captains and Commanders, both of their loyalities are, in the end, towards the Vertikim, the Yuhs and the Council of Five. This means that they don't have to comply to the commands of the Colonels or any member of the Government Sponsored Jobs if instructed otherwise.
